Turns out, you can’t do away without a website!
Why start learning?
To start off, let me just say, its been some time since I started toying with the idea of learning digital marketing. Truth be told, I am already in the industry as a copy writer and a strategist of sorts, and I already understand many of the jargons that marketers tend to use every now and then.
But then when it comes to having that clarity, I always feel like I am just one question away from being found.
Sound familiar?
Well, its probably time for you to learn Marketing from the basics. And that’s what I attempted. I found this course from Udemy, that fortunately came on a huge discount. So, I opted in. And started off with the course.
Yes, I was told but…
The course clearly wanted me to start with the very basic i.e. creating a website. But, unfortunately I didn’t start with that. How hard it must be I thought? But as the course went along, and then I found out that the website is the basic and the basis of everything.
Right now, for example, I am trying to learn e-mail marketing. Write an email, create an email list and send it off. Done. How hard can it be? Well, that’s what I thought. Until, the lecture started off with mail chimp integration, automation, lead capture form and what now.
And suddenly, I am on a back foot again. Trying hard to peddle my way back to how do I move ahead with the course. Fortunately, I had created this website a few months back with the help of my friend. And I am trying to implement all of those learnings here. And hopefully, I will be able to catch up soon.
Summing up my learning…
There are many more courses to come. I am pretty sure, there will be few like social media management and others that probably will not require as much websites as I am using right now. But who knows? For now, up until what I have learned though, a proper website is the key to learning digital marketing– anyplace, anytime.
And if you’re worried about coding and what now, worry not. I don’t know any coding at all. And I am getting on with it just fine with WordPress. There are other site builders like Wix, Zyro, weebly among others that can help.
For now, just remember the old adage, “The best way to learn is to start doing it.” In the digital space, slightly modify it, and say, “The best way to learn digital marketing is to start building a website.”
