If you are wondering who this Autumn is. It’s supposed to be me. The literal translation of the Nepali word ascribed as my name well before my birth. Nothing much of significance by itself. But a fond memory that I shall cherish for my life. Apparently, my father, on-duty army personnel at the time of my birth, predicted my birth in the harvest season known as “Sharad” (शरद). And so, I was born. I can’t help but wonder, what name he thought of for the girl in my stead though.
Anyway, so I was born. And so was I named. There’s nothing more to it. But as I grew up and started engaging with words and letters, I found out that the literal translation of my name would be Autumn. Since then, I always thought that if I were to write someday, it would be by that very name.
And today, when Suman (सुमन) literally “Good Heart”, a web developer by his professional identity came along to create this blog, I can’t help but wonder if, maybe, maybe his father foresaw his nature well before his birth too. Thankfully his name is gender neutral. I am sure, Suman would be equally good-hearted had he been not he but she.
And thanks to Suman, my personal blog is up and running. And in this first post, since I have nothing much to write about, I simply want to thank him. And thank him wholeheartedly. For this good-hearted great fellow came along, helped me set up this thing, and summoned me to write…
